Job Description
Job Summary The Customer Service Representative / Steel Shop Hand is responsible for providing excellent customer service while supporting daily steel shop operations. This role serves as the first point of contact for customers, processes orders and inquiries, and assists with the handling, fabrication, preparation, and loading of steel products. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, safety-conscious, and capable of working in both an office and shop environment. Customer Service Responsibilities Greet customers in person and by phone in a professional and courteous manner. Process sales orders, quotes, invoices, and customer payments. Assist customers with product selection, availability, and pricing. Maintain accurate customer records and order documentation. Coordinate customer orders with shop personnel to ensure timely fulfillment. Respond to customer questions, concerns, and complaints in a positive and professional manner. Communicate delivery schedules and order status updates. Steel Shop Hand Responsibilities Operate shop equipment and tools safely and efficiently. Measure, cut, process, and prepare steel products according to customer specifications. Assist with loading and unloading incoming and outgoing materials. Organize and maintain inventory and storage areas. Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of shop equipment. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Assist with deliveries or other warehouse duties as needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous customer service, warehouse, steel fabrication, or industrial experience preferred. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and order entry systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
