For over a century Associated Humane Societies have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the LARGEST animal sheltering system in New Jersey. We operate four shelters located in Newark, Tinton Falls, Forked River, and Vineland. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly-exotic animals, birds, farm animals and wildlife (both domestic and exotic). AHS is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic Client Care Specialist. In this vital role, our representatives liaise between our clients and the shelter to provide high-quality services. Reporting to the Client Care Manager, this role embodies various responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Our Client Care Specialist possess a strong understanding of animal welfare and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure optimal care for animals and deliver empathy for both the animals and the people we serve. Recognizing that animal welfare is deeply intertwined with the human sector. Respond to inquiries, phone calls, and email communications from clients in a thorough, accurate and considerate manner. Work with clients and AHS's Field Team to schedule and process owner-surrendered animals and stray intakes as well as dispatch the field team. Collaborate with the Animal Care and Behavior Teams to facilitate adoption interactions and process adoption paperwork. Greet clients and assist with questions regarding adoptions, services, and available programs. Provide data entry and maintain accurate, detailed records utilizing AHS's animal shelter database. Process donations and financial transactions in accordance with AHS's policies to ensure safekeeping and compliance. Work closely with the medical department to schedule surgery and medical discharges for adopted and reclaimed animals. Other duties as assigned. Must embrace a genuine commitment to animal welfare and demonstrate a deep and empathetic regard for its human counterpart. Minimum 1-2 years of previous customer service experience. Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver information in an empathetic, non-judgmental manner. Must have basic computer experience (Microsoft Suite, Office 365) and be able to utilize technology for optimal record-keeping. Must be able to multitask and be detail oriented. Must have a High School diploma or GED. Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are preferred. $16-$18/hr. based on experience AHS believes strongly in diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive workplace that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
