Front Desk / Service Writer

Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Front Desk / Service Writer to join our dynamic automotive service team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for customers, providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing the flow of vehicle repairs and maintenance. Your enthusiasm and mechanical knowledge will help ensure a smooth operation, from greeting clients to coordinating repairs with our skilled technicians. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to grow within the automotive industry while delivering top-tier service to our valued customers. Experienced candidates will be first in line, however, training can be provided for the right candidate. Duties Greet customers warmly upon arrival, creating a positive and professional first impression Gather vehicle information, address customer concerns, and accurately document service requests Write detailed repair orders and estimates using auto estimating software, ensuring clarity and transparency Communicate effectively with technicians regarding vehicle diagnostics, repairs needed, and timelines Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake repairs, alignments, suspension work, or transmission services only when appropriate Manage cash handling and process payments securely at the front desk Follow up with customers on vehicle status updates and ensure their questions are answered promptly Assist with vehicle check-in/check-out procedures and maintain organized records of all service transactions Qualifications Previous experience or automotive service management background highly preferred Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in automotive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures is preferred Experience in auto estimating, service writing, or automotive repair is essential Knowledge of various systems including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, air brakes, alignments, shocks & struts, diesel engines, tire service, suspension work, and auto body repair Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor Ability to upsell services confidently while maintaining integrity and customer trust Cash handling experience and proficiency in automotive sales are advantageous Mechanical experience or background as a service technician is a plus for better understanding customer needs Join us to be part of a passionate team dedicated to delivering outstanding automotive care!
