Job Description

Every visit to The Dawes Arboretum begins with a welcome. Whether it's a family exploring for the first time, a member returning for a favorite walk, or a visitor attending a special event, our Guest Services Representatives help create memorable experiences from the moment guests arrive. If you enjoy connecting with people, balancing a variety of responsibilities, and creating positive experiences, we would like to meet you! You will champion our mission by sharing accurate information/directions, promoting upcoming events, and providing assistance with gift shop transactions, memberships and program registrations. Attention to detail, ability to resolve issues and multi-tasking are just a few of the key skills essential for success in this role. Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm whether at the Gatehouse or in the Gift Shop. Process admissions, memberships, retail purchases, and program registrations using a point-of-sale system. Respond to guest inquiries by phone, providing timely and accurate information about The Arboretum's programs, memberships, special events, gardens, collections, and visitor services, while directing specialized inquiries to the appropriate team member. Troubleshoot problems, communicate effectively, manage customer concerns, and provide prompt follow-up to any guest. Operate the point-of-sale system and utilize various computer programs. Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and inviting gift shop. We are looking for someone who has : Previous demonstrated customer service and/or cash handling experience (at least 3 months) High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal). Computer and Point-of-Sale proficiency. Ability to work a flexible, rotating schedule to include weekends, holidays and evenings.
