About the Role We're looking for a Float Veterinary Referral Coordinator to support our front desk team and serve as a key link between our hospital, pet owners, and referring veterinarians. As a regularly scheduled member of our team, you'll primarily cover planned time off for other Referral Coordinators, with opportunities to help when unexpected staffing needs arise. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys variety in their workweek, has broad availability, and can often accommodate additional shifts with shorter notice. Schedule & Coverage Expectations Your primary role will be covering planned time off for other Referral Coordinators and supporting additional staffing needs. Days and shift times will vary based on coverage needs, including weekends and holidays. We generally aim to provide your schedule approximately two weeks in advance, though some shifts may be scheduled with less notice. You'll be our first contact when an unexpected absence creates a need for coverage. We're looking for someone who is frequently able and willing to help, but accepting these additional shifts is voluntary. This is not an on-call position. You are not required to remain available outside your scheduled shifts. Key Responsibilities Be the first point of contact for pet owners and referring veterinarians Manage phone calls, emails, and faxes while ensuring timely communication Schedule appointments and coordinate specialty services efficiently Coordinate medical records, prescription refill requests, and client inquiries Assist with administrative tasks to support our veterinary team Provide compassionate customer service to pet owners, including during difficult times What We're Looking For Strong customer service and communication skills Broad scheduling availability and flexibility to work varying days and shifts Willingness to help with short-notice coverage when available Ability to adapt quickly and work with different team members Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with professionalism and compassion Experience in veterinary medicine or medical office administration preferred Comfort with computers and learning new software Why Join Sunstone?
