Scenthound is looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Front Desk Associate to join our team. This isn't a traditional receptionist position. Our Front Desk team plays an important role in both the customer experience and the care of every dog who visits our Scenter. You'll greet customers and their dogs, manage appointments, help customers understand their dog's needs, recommend appropriate services and products, support membership sales, and work closely with our Scent Tech team throughout each dog's visit. Because you'll interact directly with dogs and help identify concerns during check-in, previous hands-on experience working with or caring for dogs is required. We'll train you on the Scenthound system, services, memberships, procedures, and approach to dog wellness. What You'll Do Welcome customers and their dogs and complete the check-in process Observe dogs at check-in for visible coat, skin, ear, nail, mobility, or behavioral concerns and communicate observations to the Scent Tech team Ask customers appropriate questions about their dog's needs, sensitivities, recent changes, or concerns Answer phones and respond to customer questions Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments Check customers in and out Explain Scenthound memberships, services, and upgrades Recommend appropriate services and retail products based on customer needs Help convert new customers into Scenthound members Process payments and maintain accurate customer information Communicate with the Scent Tech team to help appointments run smoothly Help resolve routine customer questions and concerns Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized front desk and lobby Dog Experience Required Previous hands-on experience working with or caring for dogs is required.
Relevant experience may include:
Dog grooming or bathing Dog daycare or boarding Veterinary or animal hospital experience Pet sitting or dog walking Animal shelters or rescues Dog training Other hands-on professional or volunteer dog-care experience You should be comfortable interacting with dogs of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments and able to observe and communicate changes in a dog's behavior or general condition. Professional grooming experience is NOT required. What We're Looking For Our ideal Front Desk Associate is someone who: Genuinely enjoys working with both dogs and people Has previous hands-on dog-care experience Provides excellent customer service Is friendly, confident, and comfortable speaking with customers Is dependable and consistently arrives on time Is comfortable recommending and selling memberships, services, and products Communicates clearly and professionally Is organized and able to manage multiple priorities Is comfortable learning scheduling and point-of-sale technology Takes initiative and can handle routine problems independently Pays attention to detail Works well as part of a team Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, reception, sales, grooming, veterinary care, dog daycare, boarding, or another pet-care environment is especially valuable. Pay & Commission Base pay is $14-$16/hour depending on experience, plus sales commission. Front Desk Associates have opportunities to earn additional income through membership and retail sales commissions. Consistent weekday daytime availability and regular weekend availability are required. Reliable attendance and punctuality are extremely important for this position. Public transportation is available near our location, but weekend service may be limited. Candidates must have reliable transportation that allows them to arrive on time for all scheduled shifts.
