Job Description
Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) is hiring a Call Center Representative . This tight-knit, high-performing team delivers excellent customer service. As a member-owned Cooperative, our members are our top priority and this team is the first point of contact. If you like working with people in a team-based, highly supportive environment, this may be the career move for you. Call Center Representatives provide responsive and knowledgeable support for a wide range of member service functions such as billing and payment inquiries, energy consumption, budget arrangements, collection of accounts, and disconnecting or reconnecting of electric service. It is critical for people on this team to be highly professional while upholding VEC's policies. They also communicate about VEC's programs, services, and policies. Members of this team show commitment to our member focus core values and creating a positive image for VEC. The nature of calls can vary widely. People with experience in call centers, discussing nonpayment or other sensitive financial issues, and/or working in a highly regulated industry will have the best chance of success. Utility experience is welcome but not necessary. We conduct extensive on the job training. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Strong computer and communication skills are a must, including the ability to adapt to new platforms. The successful candidate can demonstrate that they are self-motivated, enjoy working with a diverse population, and can communicate effectively. They must be able to remain calm under stress, resolve conflict effectively, and not take difficult calls personally. They should be able to work well in a highly collaborative and team-based environment where they can build trusting relationships with members and colleagues. This position starts as local and in-person. Once fully trained (2+ years), individuals have the option to opt into a hybrid schedule. Starting rate is $27.54. Level 1 rate is $42.06 per hour with intermediate steps as employees demonstrate specific competencies. How to
