Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps The Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps program partners community members, and students with Public Health Organizations across the state in paid volunteer positions called AmeriCorps positions. These positions offer the opportunity to receive support while volunteering with a local nonprofit. The opportunity is offered each year from September 1st to August 31st every year. This program focuses on increasing capacity of services through handing out and providing mental health resources and suicide intervention and prevention services.

Position Description:

The Client Support Specialist will expand and enhance the capacity of existing public health programs and services by helping potential clients along the intake process, while modeling recovery and coping skills needed for resiliency.

Position Duties:

Provide information and support to clients, and facilitate client satisfactory survey. Maintain safety protocols for client's during crisis response, staff, and members. Coordinate with patient's treatment team, while assisting in the development of the treatment plan. Promote mental health and health education if needed by the client. Provide a SWOT analysis and Organizational Needs Assessment for Southeast Idaho Behavioral Crisis Center every other program year, and as needed .

Minimum Qualifications:

Peer Support Certified. Pursue and obtain a Peer Support Certification (40 hours Training, 200 hour direct client service supervised) Requires some lived experience. Some background knowledge of AmeriCorps can be found on you tube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-VeZcPjYGM)
