Role Description The Independent Agent is a full-time, on-site role based in Columbia, SC. This role includes meeting with individuals and businesses to assess insurance needs, explaining product options, and recommending tailored coverage across health, life, disability, retirement, and related plans. The Independent Agent will generate and follow up on leads, build and maintain client relationships, prepare quotes, and process applications in a timely and compliant manner. Daily responsibilities also involve staying current on industry trends, carrier offerings, and regulatory changes, as well as collaborating with internal team members to ensure clients receive ongoing support and policy reviews. The role requires a strong focus on ethical sales practices, accurate documentation, and consistent follow-through to help clients protect their finances and future. Qualifications Ability to assess client needs, explain complex insurance concepts clearly, and recommend appropriate coverage options. Strength in building rapport, maintaining long-term client relationships, and providing responsive service and follow-up. Sales and business development skills, including lead generation, networking, and goal-oriented performance. Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple clients, policies, and deadlines efficiently. Attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and commitment to regulatory and ethical compliance. Comfort with using computers, CRM tools, and digital communication platforms to manage client information and workflows. Active or obtainable state insurance licenses (such as health, life, and related lines) in South Carolina. Prior experience in insurance, financial services, or customer-facing advisory roles is preferred but not required. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant certifications in insurance or finance are a plus. Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a service-oriented mindset aligned with helping clients protect their financial well-being.
