Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will serve as the vital link between customers and our skilled technicians, ensuring smooth communication, accurate documentation, and efficient service processes. Your enthusiasm and automotive knowledge will help deliver an outstanding customer experience while supporting the shop's operational success. Duties Greet customers warmly, listen carefully to their vehicle concerns, and accurately document their service requests. Write detailed repair orders and estimates, clearly outlining necessary repairs and costs. Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs, track progress, and ensure timely completion of services. Upsell additional services or maintenance based on vehicle needs and customer preferences. Maintain thorough records of all transactions, including parts used, labor hours, and cash handling procedures. Communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle status, repair recommendations, and cost estimates. Assist with automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge to better understand service requirements when needed. Skills Proven dealership or auto service management experience with strong automotive diagnostics skills. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly. Knowledge of auto estimating software, sales techniques, and automotive repair procedures. Familiarity with a wide range of automotive systems including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension, tire service, diesel engines, shocks & struts, alignment, air brake systems, auto body repair, and more. Mechanical knowledge combined with mechanic experience enhances your ability to understand technician reports. Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining professionalism under pressure. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
