Love animals—but also genuinely love helping people? Eastside Veterinary Associates is looking for a warm, capable, and curious Veterinary Receptionist / Client Care Representative to join our independently owned small-animal hospital. This is more than checking people in and answering phones. Our reception team is an important part of the care we provide. You'll help a worried pet owner find the right appointment, welcome an excited new puppy or kitten, solve problems when plans change, communicate with our medical team, and help clients understand what comes next in their pet's care. We're looking for someone who enjoys talking with people, likes solving problems, learns technology quickly, and finds satisfaction in helping others. Previous veterinary experience is helpful, but not required . Strong customer-service experience and the right attitude can be just as valuable. Considering a Career in Veterinary Medicine? We especially welcome college graduates and early-career applicants who are curious about veterinary medicine or animal health and want an opportunity to explore the profession firsthand. Maybe you studied animal science, biology, psychology, communications, business—or something completely different. What matters most to us is that you're smart, dependable, comfortable working with people, and eager to learn. You'll work alongside veterinarians and an experienced veterinary team and gain a behind-the-scenes understanding of how a modern veterinary hospital operates. And you'll be surrounded by people who genuinely love animals. Our team brings together people with backgrounds and interests that include: Animal science education Animal shelters and rescue organizations Hobby farms and animal husbandry Horses and dressage Companion-animal care Customer service and hospitality Different experiences brought us here, but we share a common goal: creating the best possible environment for caring for dogs, cats, and the people who love them. Why You'll Love Working Here Independently owned and community focused — we're a local veterinary practice, not part of a large corporate chain Voted Best Vet by our community Supportive, team-first culture with strong leadership Work directly with our veterinarians and medical team Modern, paperless hospital using technology including Avimark practice-management software and AI-assisted medical records Purpose-driven work helping pets, their families, and local rescue organizations Training, mentorship, and opportunities to grow A workplace that values kindness, accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement What You'll Do You'll be the connection between our clients and our medical team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Warmly welcome clients and their dogs and cats Answer incoming phone calls confidently and professionally Listen to clients, identify what they need, and help find solutions Schedule appointments and manage a busy veterinary calendar Communicate through phone, email, and text Check patients in and out Process payments and review invoices with clients Maintain accurate client and patient information Prepare referral, surgical, and medical paperwork Coordinate communication between clients, veterinarians, and the patient-care team Help clients understand preventive-care recommendations and hospital services Follow up with clients when needed Learn and efficiently navigate our Avimark practice-management software Help keep the front desk organized, welcoming, and running smoothly Yes, the Phone Is an Important Part of the Job We want to be upfront about this: you'll spend a meaningful part of your day talking with people. Veterinary medicine is personal. Clients may be excited about a new puppy, worried about a sick cat, confused about a recommendation, running late, or simply unsure what they should do next. We're looking for someone who doesn't hesitate when the phone rings. You don't need to know every answer. You do need to be comfortable starting the conversation, listening carefully, asking for help when needed, and making sure the client feels heard and cared for. You Might Be a Great Fit If You... Have previous experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, restaurants, healthcare, reception, or another people-focused environment Genuinely enjoy helping others Are friendly and confident speaking with people you don't know Are comfortable communicating by phone—not just text and email Can stay calm and kind when someone is frustrated or worried Enjoy solving problems instead of simply passing them along Pick up new technology and software quickly Pay attention to details Can move between tasks without losing track of what needs to happen next Ask questions when you're unsure Welcome feedback and want to keep getting better Understand that great teamwork sometimes means helping with something that isn't technically "your job" Veterinary experience and familiarity with Avimark are a plus, but we are willing to teach veterinary-specific knowledge to an exceptional customer-service candidate. Our Values We're looking for someone who connects with the values that guide how our team works every day: United Team We help each other and recognize that great patient care requires everyone working together. Positive Culture We contribute to a workplace where people are treated with kindness, professionalism, and respect. Lifelong Learner We stay curious, ask questions, welcome feedback, and continually look for ways to improve. Integrity We do the right thing—even when no one is watching. Fixer When we see a problem, we don't just point it out. We look for ways to make it better. Trustworthy Our teammates and clients can count on us to follow through on what we say we'll do. Who We Are Eastside Veterinary Associates is an independently owned, hospitality-driven veterinary hospital providing elevated, compassionate care to dogs and cats through every stage of life. If you're a strong customer-service professional looking for more meaningful work—or a college graduate interested in discovering whether veterinary medicine might be part of your future—we'd love to meet you.
