Per Compensation ManualPRIMARY PURPOSE
Assist teachers in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements Work under the supervision of a certified teacherEducation/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED Valid Texas educational aide certificate Qualifications for paraprofessional (PK-12 instructional aides): Must have completed at least 30 college hours; or Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or Met a rigorous standard of quality, demonstrated through a formal State or local academic assessmentSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Good interpersonal skills Ability to work well with students and staffExperience:
Some experience working with childrenMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Support:
Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachersStudent Management:
Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside, and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Keep the teacher informed of the special needs of studentsOther:
