Summary:

Promote the mission and core values of the Community and LCB Senior Living to residents, visitors, co-workers and the surrounding community. The Independent Living Director serves as the community leader and is responsible for the financial and operations management of the independent part of our community. Responsible for all human resources functions for all associates employed at this community. Manage payroll and maintain personnel files, vacation records, and sick and holiday time. The objective of the Independent Living Director is to ensure a warm, compassionate, and secure atmosphere encouraging independence and activity for all residents while maintaining a profitable operation.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

(These qualifications meet or exceed NH, MA, CT, RI, VT, NJ, DE and PA State specific requirements.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and other team members in English. A desire to work with senior adults. Strong leadership skills and experience leading large teams with multiple departments. Experience overseeing the financial success of multiple departments. Ability to solve complex operational and people problems. Computer knowledge essential.

Education:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred, or three or more years of relevant experience.

Experience:

Two (2) or more years of previous management experience in the senior housing industry, hospitality, country club, or hospitality. HR and financial experience preferred.

Computer Skills:

Advanced computer and Microsoft Office experience with the ability to create reports and analyze operational issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities described below are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the basic functions of this position. Other duties as requested. 1.As a leader, you are expected to have an active role in growing community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members and professionals. 2.Oversee all operations and departments within the independent community. 3.Oversee the management of all Human Resources for both independent and assisted living associates. 4.Interpret company policies and procedures to associates, residents, family members, visitors, etc. 5.Manage all aspects of the payroll system to include time reports, earnings, calculations, audit and distribution. 6.Keep accurate records of vacation, holiday, sick leave, overtime and leaves of absence. 7.Maintain all associate personnel records in accordance with all residence policies and procedures and requirements of outside agencies. 8.Build relationships with residents, families and associates. 9.Report to the Executive Director with assigned reporting metrics. 10.Partner with the Sales and Marketing Director to achieve 100% occupancy. 11.Develop the budget and ensure all departments operate within the given parameters. 12.Hold regular meetings with staff, directors, residents, and resident families. 13.On-call 24 hours a day for emergency/crisis situations. 14.Conduct and/or attend required in-service learnings and orientation. 15.Must be available after regular working hours and work weekends and holidays as necessary. 16.Ensure the business office and reception areas operate in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, and state, local, and federal regulations. 17.Other duties as required.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Good physical and mental health. Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment. Visual and auditory acuity. Must be able to lift a minimum of fifteen (15) lbs. and be able to carry objects. Must be able to push and pull carts, and continuously walk, sit and stand. Must be able to turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, bend below waist, and reach above shoulder height as tasks dictate. Must use good body mechanics. Should be neat and well groomed. Must be able to type and use a computer. Must project a positive attitude towards the service provided. Associate may be subject to potential exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, and to handling hazardous chemicals (Category 3).
