Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference for students by supporting those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an engaging school environment near Alto, GA. This contract opportunity focuses on providing specialized instruction and advocacy to empower students' communication and academic growth.
Key Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) required Experience working with children or adolescents with hearing loss preferred Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptation skills Familiarity with current DHH instructional strategies and technologies Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to DHH students for approximately 10 hours each week, integrating their unique educational needs into individualized lesson plans Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to advocate for DHH students and ensure access to curriculum Evaluate and monitor student progress, conducting assessments as needed and adjusting strategies to maximize each student's success Assist with accommodations and the use of assistive hearing technology in classroom settings Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings, serving as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues
