Deli Associate

Deli Assistant Nature of Work:

This position is responsible for assisting with the stocking, preparation, and selling of deli products such as meat and cheese. Serving our customers and collaborating with the entire team at Kauffman Orchards in a friendly and helpful manner are important parts of fulfilling the job purpose. This position reports to the Deli Supervisor.

Job Essentials and Physical Demands:

Able to follow oral and written instructions utilizing the English language well enough to perform the essential duties of the job Able to ascend and descend stairs without assistance Possess the ability to distinguish color Possess basic math skills to perform the required tasks Must be able to hear with or without amplification devices Able to lift 30 pounds Requirements include sitting, standing, ascending/descending step stools/stairs, kneeling, squatting, and ability to be exposed to allergens. Must be at least 18 years of age. Availability Requirements This is a full-time position, approximately 40 hours (5 days) a week. Deli is open Monday through Saturday, and Saturday work is required for this position. Normal hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Demonstrate self-motivated attitude and ability to perform responsibilities of position with limited supervision Be an effective and flexible team player Follow company policies and procedures as directed or outlined in the company employee handbook Pay attention to customer's needs, assist them in a cheerful and helpful manner, and assist customers over the phone. Assist in slicing/cutting deli meats & cheese (to customer specifications) and in packaging, weighing, and pricing customer's orders. Assist in keeping deli cases well-stocked and deli area clean and orderly. Assist in stocking/managing inventory of meats & cheese in cooler and placing orders with vendors when necessary. When not busy with serving deli customers or ordering/stocking deli items, you may be asked to assist in other departments. Some of these jobs include (but are not limited to) assisting in stocking grocery shelves and frozen food shelves and being backup cashier at one of the checkouts. Display a teachable attitude when learning a new skill Willingness to work in other parts of the market or other departments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
