In this role, you will provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, educate patients on oral health, and support the overall efficiency of our dental practice. Your expertise will help foster healthy smiles and positive patient experiences in a welcoming environment. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to enhance their understanding and engagement. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and review documentation for completeness and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control practices by following sterilization procedures, managing dental supplies, and ensuring a safe clinical environment. Skills Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures. Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus to effectively care for young patients. Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments and supporting the dentist during procedures. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and perform basic medical assessments relevant to dental care. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes to ensure patient safety. Familiarity with medical coding related to dental procedures for accurate billing and documentation.
