Job Description

Full Time Dental Receptionist Position Available to at a busy federally qualified health center (FQHC) in Plainfield, Vermont.
Position Summary :
This is a customer service and clinical support staff position, that is essential to our patients and other staff as front-line reception in our main dental clinic areas. Receptionists are key to patients' satisfaction with our health center, and to the high standards of care to which we adhere.

Dental Manager Essential Job Functions:
Greeting and checking-in patients in a polite and courteous manner. Obtaining updated or new paperwork. Notifying the providers that the patient has checked in Utilizing the electronic practice management/medical record,for almost all facets of the position, including scheduling, messaging, assisting patients to register or complete forms, collect insurance co-pays and other payments, check-in and check-out, daily accounting functions, etc. Scheduling appointments for patients, coordinating with providers and best accommodating the patients' schedule Checking patients in and out, scheduling follow-up appointments, collecting payment for services Receiving and conveying messages telephonically, in writing, verbally, and electronically Rescheduling appointments as needed, due to changes in provider or patient schedules Follow-up calls to patients who miss appointments to reschedule Assisting with occasional manual filing and locating patient records Preparing patient payment batches Ensuring that waiting areas are neat and comfortable Opening and closing the facility and ensuring that security systems are functional and activated Read mandatory internal communications distributed by email or hard copy Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to multi-task in a busy environment Ability to communicate well and in a caring and supportive manner with individuals of all backgrounds. Excellent phone etiquette and computer technology/keyboard skills. Basic competence in Microsoft Office. Experience with an electronic medical record/practice management system strongly preferred Must be willing to learn medical/dental/mental health office terminology. HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement and Healthcare Compliance training and agreements required upon hire .
Working Environment:
This position requires the ability to communicate in a caring and supportive manner with individuals of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. This position requires using standard office equipment, such as computers, copiers, and fax machines, standing and sitting for long periods of time, and assisting some patients with mobility and lifting.
Education, Licensure & Experience:
Minimum of high school education or equivalency certificate. Prior experience in a medical, mental health, or dental office is strongly preferred. The Health Center offers a robust benefits package for full-time employees: You would accrue up to 2 weeks of paid vacation, earning an additional day a year maxing out at 4 weeks You would accrue 96 hours of sick leave annually You pay an affordable pre-tax bi-weekly health insurance premium contribution The Health Center pays 80% of your health insurance premium The Health Center pays 90% of your health insurance plan deductible The Health Center pays 100% of the deductible if you have services onsite, woman's health, or associates in pediatrics If you do not need health insurance you would receive $200 per bi-weekly pay period ($5,200/year) We offer pre-tax Flexible Spending Account and Dependent Care plan options We also offer a retirement plan with employer contribution after 1 year After 3 months of employment, short/long term disability and life insurance coverage paid 100% by The Health Center Dental Benefit- $500 per year for employee, then 60% off discount up to $1,000. Spouse/Dependents- 60% off the first $1,000 (for services at The Health Center)
