Job Description

Description SUMMARY The Deputy Finance Director is responsible for the supervision of the Finance department staff, training and discipline. In addition, under the Supervision of the Finance Director, the Deputy Finance Director assists with financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises staff and delegate tasks.
  • Mentoring staff, overseeing daily workflow, and reviewing performance.
  • Oversees staff, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with financial regulations. Instructs and trains staff members as needed.
  • Helps the Finance Director to overseeing the finance department, including assisting department heads with finance related matters.
  • Assists with the preparation of financial grant reporting.
  • Performs professional level governmental accounting.
  • Provides technical assistance to department in preparation of budget proposals, purchasing policies, travel requests and other matters associated with Finance.
  • Assists the Finance Director in verifying all bookkeeping entries, payments, purchases, expenditures and balances for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Compiles financial data, creating reports and analyzing the financial health of the company.
  • Identifies ways for the organization to cut costs and increase profits with the enterprises.
  • Enforces policies and procedures that keep the company in compliance with financial regulations.
  • Assists with preparing monthly Financial Reports when needed.
  • Implements financial and accounting best practices and oversees critical accounting procedures to ensure legal compliance with financial reporting and banking regulations at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Leads planning and forecasting activities with enterprises to achieve investment and accounting goals.
  • Assists and supports upper-level management to ensure sound financial decision-making that is in the long-term best interest of the organizational mission.
  • Maintains an accurate filing and record-keeping system for all financial statements and company documents.
  • Assists auditors as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Familiar with SAGE INTACT and INOVA Payroll.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial reports for various uses, including preparation of Enterprise financial statements.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with and among employees, and the public.
  • Strong leadership, analytical abilities, communication skills, and ethical judgment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass DPS/FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • CPA or Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional level accounting experience, five (5) years of which involve direct supervisory experience.
  • Deep understanding of financial reporting standards (such as GAAP) and experience preparing or reviewing financial statements.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis and cash flow modeling.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Experience with processing grants financial reports; preferred
