  • Artist Relations CXU Gallery is seeking a professional, organized, and personable Bilingual Art Gallery Associate to support artist relations, exhibitions, artwork sales, and daily gallery operations.
This position will also serve as an important point of contact between the gallery and our local and international artists. The ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communication skills, enjoys building relationships with artists and collectors, and can communicate professionally in English and at least one additional language. About CXU Gallery CXU Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Fullerton, California. We present exhibitions featuring local and international artists and provide opportunities for artists to connect with collectors, cultural organizations, and the broader community. Our programming includes solo and group exhibitions, artist talks, art fairs, workshops, and special events. Responsibilities Communicate professionally with local and international artists Build and maintain positive, long-term relationships with artists Translate and proofread emails, artist biographies, statements, artwork information, exhibition materials, and other gallery communications Coordinate requests for artwork images, dimensions, prices, biographies, statements, and other exhibition materials Research and identify emerging and established artists who may be a strong fit for CXU Gallery Discover new artists through exhibitions, art fairs, artist websites, social media, universities, and professional recommendations Monitor artist deadlines and follow up on missing information Assist with exhibition planning, artwork intake, installation, labeling, and deinstallation Maintain accurate artist, artwork, inventory, consignment, and sales records Assist with exhibition agreements, artwork lists, price lists, and certificates of authenticity Help coordinate artwork shipping, delivery, drop-off, and pickup arrangements Assist with gallery receptions, artist talks, VIP events, art fairs, and special programs Welcome visitors and provide information about exhibitions and artists Respond to general inquiries from artists, collectors, and gallery visitors Assist with artwork sales, invoices, payment processing, and customer follow-up Help prepare artist information and images for the gallery website, social media, online platforms, and art-fair applications Support daily gallery organization and administrative tasks Perform other gallery-related duties as assignedRequired Qualifications Professional fluency in English and at least one additional language Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages Ability to translate professional correspondence and art-related materials accurately Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Professional, respectful, and dependable communication style Ability to manage multiple artists, deadlines, and projects simultaneously Comfortable working independently and collaboratively Proficiency with email, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and basic digital file organization Reliable transportation to the gallery in Fullerton Ability to work occasional evenings and Saturdays for gallery events Interest in contemporary art, exhibitions, and artist development Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in an art gallery, museum, cultural organization, arts administration, artist studio, or related environment Experience communicating with artists or cultural organizations Experience researching artists, reviewing portfolios, or identifying emerging artistic talent Experience with artwork inventory, exhibition coordination, consignment, sales, shipping, or installation Familiarity with social media, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Square, Artsy, or similar platforms Bachelor's degree or coursework in art, art history, arts administration, museum studies, communications, business, or a related field Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk throughout the gallery during exhibitions and events Ability to assist with handling, packing, and installing artwork Ability to lift and carry approximately 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
