EAM Teaching Artist The Elmhurst Art Museum seeks a teaching artist for part-time instruction in our exciting youth and adult studio classes. This is a terrific opportunity for applicants who are experienced in art education, visual art, or museum education. We currently have openings for a Watercolor Painting instructor and/or a Fiber Arts instructor beginning as early as January 2027.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in visual arts, art education, museum education, or related field Prior experience working with students of any age in formal or informal educational settings. Knowledge of content-specific techniques and general studio practices A prompt and professional manner CPR and First Aid Certification is preferred, not required

Duties:

Prepare lesson plans and provide instruction that align with the Education Department's curriculum initiatives Collaborate with the Manager of Education to propose age-appropriate curriculum and submit supply orders aligned with EAM education standards. Facilitate hands-on instruction which engages participants with creative projects and supports students in their learning Interact with students and staff in a professional and courteous manner Cultivate a learning environment that is encouraging and inclusive Maintain a safe classroom environment Communicate effectively and show integrity as a museum representative Follow procedures and expectations as outlined by the Manager of Education and EAM Staff Prepare and organize art materials Other duties as assigned

Compensation:

This position is contract-based with an hourly rate commensurate with experience (begins at $22/hr).
