An Artist or Illustrator develops ideas and works with different materials to create art, including crafts and fine art such as painting. May specialize in drawing and creating visual images, designs or pictures for books and other publications or for commercial products, or detailed drawings for scientific or medical illustrations. Creates drawings by hand and uses computers to create or develop images.
Position summary The Artist Associate supports the production and timely delivery of customized products for retail, e-commerce and events. Working under the Lead Artist, this person will mainly assist with painting and creative production. Vinyl and embroidery tasks, materials organization and event preparation may also be required as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable and comfortable balancing creativity with repeatable production standards and deadlines. Key responsibilities Assist with the production of customized painted merchandise and event deliverables. Prepare materials, files, equipment and work areas for daily production. Support vinyl design, cutting, weeding, placement and application tasks if needed. Support embroidery setup, production, finishing and quality review if needed. Follow approved designs, specifications, timelines and quality standards. Inspect finished products for accuracy, presentation and workmanship, and assemble products as required depending on the item. Assist with event preparation, packing, setup and creative execution as scheduled. Maintain a clean, organized and safe production workspace. Track and organize production materials and notify the Lead Artist of supply needs. Help reduce material waste, rework and production delays. Qualifications Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, polished work. Ability to follow creative direction, written instructions and production schedules. Good organization, time-management and problem-solving skills. Comfort learning and safely operating vinyl, embroidery and related production equipment. Dependability and willingness to assist across retail, e-commerce and event projects. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move products, event materials and supplies up to approximately 25 pounds. Availability for a flexible part-time to full-time schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends for events.
Preferred experience:
Experience with hand painting personalized products, stencils, crafting, vinyl cutters, embroidery equipment, graphic-design software, event production or comparable hands-on creative work is helpful. A portfolio or examples of relevant work are welcome but not required. What success looks like Tasks completed on schedule at least 95% of the time. Accurate production with minimal rework and an error rate targeted at 3% or less. Event materials prepared and ready by required deadlines. Efficient use of materials and positive collaboration with the Lead Artist and broader team. Schedule and work environment This is an on-site position that may be structured as part-time or full-time, anticipated to average approximately 20 to 40 hours per week depending on the selected candidate and business needs. Scheduling will fluctuate with production volume, seasonal demand and events. Compensation and benefits The hourly wage is stated above. In accordance with New Jersey law, eligible employees accrue one hour of paid earned sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per benefit year, subject to the Company's policy and applicable law.
