We provide art and creativity classes, camps, and workshops in schools and other community facilities in Washoe County, but we couldn't do it without our Teaching Artists! We are looking for experienced Artists with a passion for teaching and sharing skills with different groups. This is an opportunity to share your talent and creativity with others, while continuing to work as an artist and educator. This is a contract position, not a staff position. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of two years' experience teaching art to kids, exceptional organization skills, and the ability to create curriculum that enables children to learn different arts skills in a variety of mediums. Teaching Artists are responsible for teaching in multiple classrooms in Washoe County including Washoe County Schools, private events, contracted classes with other organizations, or on location at the Lake Mansions Arts and Cultural Center. Teaching Artists need to be available throughout the week. While our primary audience is children, we also teach art classes for adults as well.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experienced in teaching visual art to children or adults in academic settings Experience with working in children Experienced in using diverse art media Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently Strong organizational skills Have excellent ability to manage classroom environment effectively Experienced in developing K-12 visual art curriculum preferred

Job Duties:
