Job Description

Mural Club Advisor Needed

Location:

Hinesburg Community School

This position will remain open until filled. However, applications received within the first seven days of posting will receive priority consideration. Internal candidates will also be prioritized over external applicants during this initial seven-day window.

Hinesburg Community School (HCS) is seeking a caring and knowledgeable Mural Club advisor. This after-school club provides an exciting opportunity for students to collaborate on large-scale art projects while building creative confidence and contributing to the physical character of our school environment. This is a part-time, stipend position. Primary Responsibilities

Build an art community across grades 4-6 by bringing students from different grade levels together around shared creative projects.

Build artistic and creative confidence at an age when students often become more self-conscious about their artistic abilities and less willing to take creative risks.

Develop collaboration and teamwork skills through meaningful, shared projects where students must communicate, compromise, problem-solve, and contribute to a common vision.

Provide additional opportunities for students to make and experience art beyond the regular school day.

Teach mural-making skills and techniques, including planning, composition, scaling imagery, transferring designs, color mixing, painting techniques, and working on a large scale.

Give students authentic ownership of their school environment by creating artwork that reflects student creativity and contributes to the character of our school.

Build perseverance and experience with long-term projects, including learning that meaningful artwork does not always need to be completed within a single class or session.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

Demonstrated experience working with students in grades 4th-6th.

A strong commitment to working with students in an art focused environment.

A commitment to inclusivity and building a supportive environment for all student participants.

A background in Art education.

Please apply via SchoolSpring or submit a cover letter and sports-related resume directly to HCS Athletic/Activity Directors Denise Farmer and Kerri Wallis at hcsathletics@cvsdvt.org.

More information about CVSD can be found on our district website.

CVSD is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to ensuring that all of our students achieve our mission - which means we are also committed to developing a faculty and staff that represents the inclusive, welcoming environment we seek to develop for students and families.
