2-3 positions Brown Technologies is a rapidly growing company with a proven record of success supporting complex, cutting-edge programs. We are an employee-centric company that understands the individuals who comprise our workforce are our most important asset, and we are proudly recognized as one of "The Best Place for Working Parents." Come join our team of experienced, dedicated, and committed professionals whose focus is to solve the mission-critical problems of our customers. Brown Technologies, Inc. (BTI), a certified HUBZone small business, is currently seeking two to three dependable part-time Low-Voltage Installers to support residential and light commercial projects throughout the Huntsville area. BTI installs low-voltage systems — outdoor landscape and architectural lighting, network cabling, and audio/video — and the selected candidates will work alongside our lead installers across all three disciplines. The work varies with the season and the schedule: one week may involve burying lighting cable along a driveway, and the next may involve pulling Cat6 through a ceiling or helping mount a television and speakers. No prior experience is required. Candidates who arrive on time, work steadily, and take care with the details will be trained on all three sides of the work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Landscape Lighting Dig and bury low-voltage cable along beds, walkways, and driveways. Stake, set, and level light fixtures according to a plan. Assist with mounting and wiring transformers. Assist with evening aiming and adjustment visits (occasional after-dark work). Network Cabling Pull Cat6 and other low-voltage cable through walls, ceilings, attics, and crawlspaces. Assist with terminating jacks, keystones, and patch panels. Mount and dress racks, label runs, and keep pathways clean and organized. Audio/Video Assist with mounting displays, speakers, and equipment. Run and conceal AV wiring. Stage, unbox, and set up gear on site. All Assignments Load, unload, and stage materials and tools. Backfill, patch, and re-set mulch and sod, leaving every site cleaner than it was found. Represent Brown Technologies professionally in customers' homes and offices.
Basic Qualifications:
18 years of age or older. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. and remain on your feet throughout the workday. Comfortable working on ladders and in attics and crawlspaces. Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, and humidity. Careful with hand tools and willing to follow a plan exactly as specified. Presentable and courteous, with the professionalism required to work inside customers' homes and businesses. Dependable attendance and proactive communication when plans change. Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Landscaping, irrigation, fencing, or general construction experience. Low-voltage, electrical, network cabling, or cable-pulling background. Experience mounting televisions, speakers, or AV equipment. Ownership of basic hand tools.
WHY WORK WITH US
Clear pay step: $10•12 per hour to start, with potential for a step up in pay after 90 days once earned. Flexible daytime hours that fit alongside school, another part-time job, or retirement. Steady, predictable weekly hours rather than unpredictable call-outs. Three marketable skills to build on — lighting, structured cabling, and AV are all growing trades. Small crew with direct access to the owner and no layers of management.
