POSITION SUMMARY
St. Margaret's Episcopal Church is seeking a dependable and technically skilled Part-Time Sound Engineer / Audio-Visual Technician to oversee the church's audio and livestream systems during weekly worship services and special events. The Sound Engineer will ensure clear, balanced sound for both the in-person congregation and livestream audiences, while supporting the worship leaders and musicians. The position works closely with the Director of Music and Rector to coordinate audio cues, presentation slides, and musical elements during services.

•June through August On-call availability: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons for rehearsals or special events Required availability for major services: o Easter services o Christmas Eve services o Choral Evensongs & Lessons and Carols o Concerts and other events as needed Key Responsibili?es Operate the church's digital mixing console for weekly worship services and special events Mix live sound for vocals, choir, organ, piano, keyboard, instruments, Manage and monitor livestream audio recording and broadcast sound quality Serve as the primary operator for the church's Audio-Visual systems, including microphones, speakers, projec9on, and recording systems Assist with Livestream video and troubleshoot camera issues should they arise. Coordinate with the Music Director, Pastor, choir, and guest musicians to ensure smooth transitions and cueing during services YouTube o Set up descriptions to include names of participants & link to service bulletin o Edit video to trim ends and add timestamps Oversee Church Volunteers o Support Livestream camera operators o Recruit and Train support team of audio and livestream assistants Meet with Director of Music and Rector periodically to review performance and identify special future need. Support sound and livestream needs for the following: The STM Choir Organ Mic'd piano (when necessary) Keyboard Solo vocalists and ensembles Special musical guests Set up, test, and break down audio and visual equipment before and a`er services Provide audio setup and support for church events not held in the church's sanctuary. Maintain organized cabling, microphones, stands, and audio equipment Troubleshoot technical issues quickly during live services Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing 50+ pounds Able to assist with setup and breakdown of speakers, stands, and other A V equipment Comfortable working indoors and outdoors during church events Qualifications Experience operating digital sound boards for live events or worship services Experience mixing live music and spoken word within the context of an acoustic space Familiarity with livestream audio and recording workflows Experience operating presentation software Strong trouble shooting skills in a live production environment Ability to work collaboratively with musicians, staff, and volunteers Reliable and punctual with consistent Sunday availability Preferred Experience Prior church sound engineering or live performance audio experience in acoustic environments Experience mixing choirs, acoustic instruments, and multiple vocalists Familiarity with livestream broadcast systems and audio recording To Apply Please submit a resume or summary of relevant experience to: David Christopher davidc@stmargarets.org (760) 346-2697 ext. 109
