Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead AV Installation Technician to oversee and execute commercial audio-visual installations. This role is responsible for leading field teams, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver successful projects. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, takes ownership of job sites, and can lead a team while keeping projects on track. Key Responsibilities Lead AV installation projects from start to finish Supervise and support installation technicians on job sites Interpret system drawings, schematics, and scope of work Install, configure, and commission AV systems including audio, video, control, and networking components Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve system issues Ensure installations meet company standards, safety requirements, and project timelines Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades Maintain accurate documentation including as-builts and field reports Provide client-facing support, system walkthroughs, and basic training Technical Qualifications Strong working knowledge of AV systems, including:
  • Audio systems (DSP configuration, gain structure, speaker wiring)
  • Video systems (switchers, matrix routing, EDID, HDCP)
  • Control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX)
  • Structured cabling (CAT6, fiber, coax) Advanced troubleshooting skills across audio, video, control, and network systems Experience with AV-over-IP systems and basic network configuration (VLANs, multicast, QoS) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and signal flow diagrams Experience with rack building, system commissioning, and testing Soft Skills Strong work ethic and reliability Clear communication and ability to lead a team effectively Attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to manage time, priorities, and job site workflow Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and other trades Comfortable working in environments where conditions change and able to adapt, problem-solve, and keep projects moving forward Solution-oriented takes ownership of issues and drives practical resolutions, not just escalation Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of AV, low-voltage, or related installation experience Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role CTS or CTS-I certification Experience with major AV control platforms (Crestron, Extron, AMX) Strong familiarity with networking fundamentals Work Environment On-site work at commercial job sites (offices, schools, etc.
