College of Business and Economics Work Location Lexington, KY Salary Range $14.00 per hour Type of Position Student Position Time Status Part-Time Required Education Some College Required Related Experience None Required License/Registration/Certification None Physical Requirements Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 lbs Ability to work unsupervised Shift Days, nights/weekends as needed, approximately 20 hours a week Job Summary Classroom Technology Assistant This position provides in-class technical support to instructors and students participating in Gatton's hybrid and online programs.
Schedule:
This position primarily requires evening work, generally between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with some daytime shifts available. Hours will vary based on class schedules and departmental needs and will be fewer than 20 hours per week. Schedules will be established at the beginning of the semester and will generally remain consistent throughout the semester.
Duties include:
Support instructors and students during in-person, hybrid, and online classes. Start and monitor Zoom sessions, manage cameras and classroom audio, and help ensure remote students can participate in class discussions. Monitor Zoom chat and notify the instructor when remote students have questions or comments. Set up and monitor class recordings using Echo360 and Zoom. Meet with instructors before class to review the planned format and any specific technology needs. Assist instructors and students with Zoom breakout rooms, screen sharing, presentations, and other classroom technology. Troubleshoot technical issues during class and provide solutions or alternatives to minimize disruptions. Perform routine classroom technology checks and report equipment problems to Gatton IT. Assist instructors and students with technology used for remote testing and other course activities. Provide basic technical support to students participating from off campus. Edit and post class recordings to Canvas when requested. Assist Gatton IT with classroom support, equipment setup, and other technology-related tasks. Complete all required training and follow Gatton IT procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills / Knowledge
/ Abilities Knowledge of Zoom, Canvas, ProctorU, Respondus Lockdown Browser, video editing software, PowerPoint, digital whiteboards, web cameras, and/or general computer hardware/software is helpful but not required. Training will be provided for various technologies. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
