Casting "The Binder," an intimate family drama short film.
Logline:
Set during a dinner two days before a young Army officer leaves for his first deployment to Iraq. The production is particularly interested in casting Black/African American actors as this military family. The writer/director's perspective on the military world portrayed in the film is informed by his own time of service in the U.S. Army and the soldiers and military families he knew during that experience. Performances will be naturalistic, intimate, and restrained. This is not a combat film. The story focuses on what military service does to a family around the dinner table. Actors should be comfortable with silence and subtle emotional behavior. The tension develops gradually from familiar family humor into subjects this family has avoided discussing for years.
