Role:
NorthBay is seeking a full-time Audio Visual Media Specialist to ensure proper care and use of technical equipment at NorthBay within our school-year programming and summer retreat experiences. This role works with our Guest Services department to assist with setting up and training incoming weekend group production teams. Responsibilities include A/V equipment maintenance, ordering, and any A/V setup needs throughout campus. During the school week, this position will serve as the Sound Engineer and work alongside the media team to develop the lighting and stage design used for daily NorthBay Live productions. NorthBay is looking for a highly motivated, independent worker with a willingness and ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and needs. Successful candidates must have experience with and the ability to troubleshoot and repair audio and visual media equipment. Education, training, or experience in theater, film, or television arts and talent in videography, editing, and video production is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in Audio Visual Technology, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field. Audio/Visual repair expertise. Theater, live production, or television education and/or experience recommended. Videography, editing, and production experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the Technical Coordinator for NorthBay Live, NorthBay's nightly character education and multimedia show. Manage campus-wide audiovisual operations, including the setup, maintenance, inventory, ordering, transportation, and proper use of A/V equipment. Operates as the Front of House Sound Engineer for NorthBay Live, ensuring high-quality audio for nightly performances. Design, program, and operate stage lighting using Lightkey software to enhance live productions and events. Assist with video production and post-production editing using Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and macOS-based production workflows. Serve as an on-stage MC and host for meals in our dining hall, engaging audiences and supporting group facilitation. Capture photography and video content to support organizational marketing, and storytelling initiatives.
Skills:
The required skills enable the AV Specialist to efficiently set up and operate complex audio and visual equipment, ensuring flawless execution of events and presentations. Troubleshooting skills are essential for quickly diagnosing and resolving technical issues to maintain uninterrupted service. Communication and training skills are used daily to assist colleagues and end-users in understanding and utilizing AV technology effectively. Preferred skills such as knowledge of advanced control systems and streaming technologies allow the specialist to implement more sophisticated AV solutions and enhance multimedia delivery. Together, these skills ensure the AV Specialist can adapt to evolving technology landscapes and deliver high-quality audiovisual experiences consistently.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
