Job Description
Required Education
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Event Audio Visual (AV) Technician to provide technical support for live events. This position will be responsible for operating and supporting audio, lighting, and live-streaming equipment during scheduled events.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with live event AV production, including operating sound boards, managing event lighting, and supporting live streaming. This position requires flexibility, as work hours will vary based on the event schedule and will primarily include evening and non-standard hours.
Training will be provided on the organization's specific AV equipment and systems.
Job Duties
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional education or training in Audio/Visual Technology, Broadcasting, Theater Production, Communications, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Experience providing audio/visual support for live events.
- Hands-on experience operating sound boards, audio mixers, or similar audio equipment.
- Working knowledge of event lighting systems and equipment.
- Experience supporting or operating live-streaming equipment or platforms.
- Ability to set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot AV equipment during live events.
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly to technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible and non-standard hours, including evenings, nights, and occasional weekends, based on scheduled events.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a live-event environment.
- Experience with video cameras, projectors, displays, or video switchers.
- Experience with wireless microphones and other professional audio equipment.
- Experience with streaming platforms such as OBS, Zoom, YouTube Live, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of AV signal flow, cabling, and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience with lighting consoles or lighting-control systems.
- Experience with event setup and teardown.
- Experience in theater, broadcasting, performing arts, higher education, corporate events, houses of worship, or other live-event environments.
- AV-related certifications such as AVIXA CTS, Dante, Q-SYS, or similar are a plus.

- Set up, test, and monitor microphones, speakers, and other audio equipment.
- Operate and assist with event lighting systems.
- Support live streaming and related video production activities.
- Set up and operate cameras, displays, projectors, and other AV equipment as needed.
- Perform pre-event equipment checks and testing.
- Monitor AV systems throughout events and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
- Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, and storage before and after events.
- Coordinate with event organizers and staff to ensure AV requirements are met.
- Follow established procedures for operating and maintaining AV equipment.
- Learn and become proficient with the organization's specific AV systems and equipment.
- Provide professional and responsive technical support during events.
- Perform other related AV duties as assigned.
