Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Commercial AV Service Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and supporting commercial audiovisual systems at customer sites throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, enjoys solving technical problems, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. This role includes driving a company-provided service vehicle to various job sites each day and working closely with our project managers, installers, and clients to ensure audiovisual systems perform reliably. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair commercial audiovisual & lighting systems, including: Displays and video walls, Projectors and projection systems, Audio systems and DSPs, Control systems (audio, video, & lighting), Video conferencing equipment, Digital signage, House and Theatrical lighting/dimming systems, Cabling and connectivity issues. Respond to scheduled service calls throughout the Kansas City metro area. Perform preventive maintenance inspections and system health checks. Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and programming-related issues. Replace defective equipment and components. Document service work, findings, and recommendations accurately. Communicate professionally with customers regarding system issues, repair options, and preventive maintenance recommendations. Coordinate with the office and project management team to schedule service calls and order replacement parts when needed. Maintain company tools, test equipment, and assigned service vehicle. Follow company safety procedures and maintain clean, organized job sites. Occasionally assist installation crews with project completion as workload requires. Participate in after-hours or emergency service calls on a rotating basis, if required. Qualifications Experience servicing commercial audiovisual & lighting systems preferred. Working knowledge of commercial AV & lighting equipment and signal flow. Ability to troubleshoot audio, video, control, and networking issues. Familiarity with manufacturers such as Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, Samsung, LG, Sony, Epson, Logitech, Electronic Theatre Controls, Chauvet, Community, d&b audiotechnik, Fulcrum, Absen is a plus. Basic understanding of IP networking. Ability to read wiring diagrams, system drawings, and rack elevations. Strong communication and customer service skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Ability to prioritize multiple service calls and manage time effectively. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights. Ability to work in equipment racks, above ceilings, and in mechanical rooms. Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Environment Daily travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. Company-provided service vehicle for work-related travel. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or after-hours service as needed. Work performed in offices, schools, healthcare facilities, houses of worship, government buildings, entertainment venues and other commercial environments. $33.00 - $36.00 per hour
