8-12 hours per week (Primarily Sundays + limited weekday preparation)

Position Summary:
The AV Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all technical elements of Sunday worship and special services. This includes sound, projection, and live streaming to ensure a high-quality, distraction-free worship experience both in-person and online. This role supports the mission of Hilldale by helping communicate the Gospel clearly and creatively through technology.
Primary Responsibilities:
The specific tasks of the AV Specialist will include, but are not limited to: Operate and manage the digital sound board during worship services Set up, monitor, and mix audio for in-person and livestream audiences Operate and manage PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras for live streaming Oversee and execute weekly live stream broadcast (YouTube, Facebook, or other platforms) Build, format, and run worship slides using ProPresenter Coordinate and display lyrics, liturgy, sermon notes, videos, and announcements on screens Prepare all media elements in advance of Sunday worship (slides, videos, lower thirds, etc.) Ensure proper integration of CCLI licensing and reporting for music usage Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently during services Maintain and organize digital media files and presentation templates Assist in recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteer tech team members Collaborate with pastoral staff and worship leaders for service planning Provide technical support for special services (Holy Week, Christmas Eve, funerals, weddings, etc.)
SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
As part of the broader staff and ministry team, the AV Specialist will: Communicate regularly with staff regarding worship needs and changes Assist in maintaining and organizing AV equipment and workspace Support a culture of hospitality and excellence in worship Participate in occasional staff meetings or planning sessions as needed Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
NECESSARY SKILLS
The AV Specialist should be technologically proficient, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure in live environments. Preferred (but not required) experience includes: Digital sound mixing (live and broadcast audio) PTZ camera systems and video switching ProPresenter (or similar presentation software) Live streaming platforms (YouTube Live, Facebook Live, OBS, etc.) Basic video editing and slide design Understanding of CCLI and copyright compliance Ability to troubleshoot AV systems quickly Strong communication and teamwork skills
OFFICE HOUR EXPECTATIONS
Required presence on Sunday mornings (including setup and teardown) Additional limited hours during the week for preparation (slides, media, coordination) Availability for major worship services and special events throughout the year Scheduling coordinated with the Senior Pastor and worship leadership
