Capital City Home Theater Austin, TX | Up to 30 hours per week | Potential for Full-Time | 3+ Years Experience We are looking for an experienced Residential AV Technician to join our team in a smoke free environment. This is a hands-on position working in and around customers' homes installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and completing residential AV and low-voltage projects. The position is currently part-time, up to 30 hours per week , with the potential to grow into a full-time position. Responsibilities Install and service residential audio/video equipment Install in-ceiling and in-wall speakers Hang and install cameras, TV's and motorized blinds Work with low-voltage wiring and connections Work on both new construction and remodel projects Complete installations and service calls from start to finish Conduct field service visits for system testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and client training on AV system operation Troubleshoot AV equipment, wiring, and related systems Work inside and outside customers' homes Perform attic, crawl-space, or under-house work when required Work safely from ladders and in high places Cut in speakers and other AV components Use hand tools and power tools safely Read blueprints or installation drawings when needed Follow directions and complete assigned work Train clients on the use and operation of their AV systems Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with clients and managers Clearly communicate technical information in understandable English Prepare invoices at the time of service Collect payment from customers at the time of service when required Keep work areas clean, safe and organized Protect customers' homes and property while working Follow all company safety procedures and instructions Skills & Requirements 3+ years of residential AV installation and service experience required. This position is specifically for residential AV work. Concert, live-event or production AV experience alone does not meet this requirement. Commercial AV experience may be considered when it includes comparable hands-on installation, troubleshooting, low-voltage, and field-service work. Residential audio/video installation and service experience Experience with low-voltage wiring Experience installing speakers, cameras, and motorized blinds Experience with home automation Comfortable cutting in speakers Comfortable using hand and power tools while on a ladder Comfortable working on ladders and in high places Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, and under houses when required Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment Able to troubleshoot and solve problems Able to complete projects independently Able to follow directions and company procedures Able to read blueprints or installation drawings preferred Strong communication skills with clients and managers Must be comfortable working directly with homeowners, explaining technical information in understandable English, providing basic system training, and handling service invoices and customer payments when required Able to communicate in a timely and professional manner Dependable and punctual Professional and respectful in customers' homes Safety-conscious Drug-free workplace Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Clean driving record Must live in the Austin area; South Austin is preferred Willing to complete a background check if required Work Environment Residential homes New construction and remodels Indoor and outdoor work Attics, crawl spaces, and under-house areas when required Working on ladders and around construction areas Non-smoking work environment Schedule & Benefits Part-time, up to 30 hours per week Monday-Friday schedule Very few Saturdays Flexible schedule Schedule varies based on projects and customer needs Paid holidays Potential for the position to grow into full-time Company typically takes approximately two weeks off around Christmas; this time is unpaid Compensation $19
