Job Description

Overview The Fox Valley UU Fellowship is seeking a part-time Audio-Visual Technician (AV Tech) to support Sunday worship services approximately two Sundays per month, with each shift averaging 3-4 hours. The AV Tech helps create a welcoming, high-quality worship experience for both in-person and online participants by managing live sound, presentations and video, and our Zoom livestream. Responsibilities Set up and operate microphones, sound equipment, and the sound board Monitor and adjust sound quality during services Advance PowerPoint slides and play videos and other media Operate the Zoom livestream, in-sanctuary cameras, camera switchers, and OBS Coordinate with ministers, musicians, speakers, and other service participants to support their AV needs Troubleshoot routine audio, video, presentation, and livestreaming issues Safely break down and store equipment following services Schedule and Compensation Approximately two Sunday services per month, coordinated with other AV staff 3-4 hours per Sunday $20.67/hour for regularly scheduled Sunday services Optional opportunities to support memorial services, weddings, and other special events at $50.00/hour Anticipated start date: As soon as possible Conduct field service visits for system installations, upgrades, repairs, and customer support with professionalism and technical precision. Assist in the setup and operation of video conferencing systems, ensuring reliable connectivity and high-quality audio/video transmission. Experience and Compensation High school diploma or equivalent required Degree or coursework in audio-visual technology, sound production, media production, or a related field preferred Previous audio-visual or live production experience preferred Familiarity with computers and audio-visual technology, including PowerPoint, Zoom, OBS, or similar platforms preferred Familiarity with music and live sound reinforcement is a plus Training and Onboarding Paid training on the Fellowship's specific equipment, systems, and processes will be provided. As part of onboarding, the selected candidate will work alongside an experienced AV Technician for 1-2 Sunday services. This initial training period will allow the candidate to become familiar with the Fellowship's AV setup and service flow, demonstrate the core skills of the position, and ensure the role is a good mutual fit.
