8am-5pm with flexibility for weekends/on call support Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on and technically skilled Broadcast Engineer to support the equipment, computer systems, servers, and networks that keep live television operations running reliably. This position is responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining broadcast equipment, supporting users throughout the organization, and helping ensure that live and recorded programming stays on the air. The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical problems, working with a variety of technology, and staying calm when issues arise during time-sensitive broadcasts. Key Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadcast equipment, computers, servers, and network systems Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for newsroom, production, and business users Support the technical systems required for reliable live and recorded television broadcasts Respond quickly to technical problems during breaking news, live broadcasts, and other critical programming Perform preventative maintenance on broadcast and technical equipment Install, configure, and upgrade equipment and technical systems Assist with system upgrades, equipment replacements, and new installations Monitor equipment and systems to identify potential problems before they impact broadcasts Maintain accurate technical documentation, equipment records, and troubleshooting information Work with other technical and operational teams to resolve complex issues Provide technical support and guidance to users when needed Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications 2+ years of broadcast engineering, broadcast technology, IT, or related technical experience preferred Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience troubleshooting Windows operating systems, servers, and networking Experience working with broadcast equipment and technical systems Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Ability to diagnose issues logically and work toward solutions independently Strong communication and customer-service skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts Preferred Experience Experience with RF transmitters and transmission systems Knowledge of television production and broadcast workflows Familiarity with IP-based broadcast technology Experience supporting live television or other real-time media environments Experience working with audio/video systems and related broadcast infrastructure Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to work around technical equipment and computer/server systems Ability to move between facilities or work locations as needed Ability to work flexible schedules and respond to technical issues outside of normal business hours Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who is hands-on, technically curious, dependable, and a strong problem solver. The ideal candidate doesn't need to know every piece of broadcast technology on day one, but should have a solid technical foundation and be comfortable troubleshooting unfamiliar equipment and systems. Candidates coming from broadcast engineering, broadcast operations, IT support, network administration, server support, AV technology, or telecommunications may be a good fit if they have strong troubleshooting skills and are comfortable working in a live, time-sensitive environment.
