Fort Myers, FL Position Overview A well-established television broadcasting company is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to join its technical team and help keep the systems behind live television running reliably. This is a hands-on opportunity for a technically minded professional who enjoys troubleshooting, working with broadcast and IT technology, and solving problems in a fast-paced environment. The Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and supporting broadcast equipment, computer systems, servers, networks, and other technical infrastructure. The ideal candidate is someone who can remain calm under pressure, quickly diagnose technical issues, and understands the importance of keeping broadcasts on the air. What You'll Do Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair broadcast equipment, computers, servers, and network systems. Support newsroom, production, and business users with hardware, software, and technical issues. Monitor and maintain the reliable operation of live and recorded television broadcasts. Perform preventative maintenance on broadcast and technical equipment. Install, configure, test, and upgrade equipment and technical systems. Respond quickly to technical issues during breaking news, live programming, and other critical broadcasts. Troubleshoot equipment and systems to minimize downtime and maintain broadcast reliability. Assist with maintaining and improving technical infrastructure and broadcast workflows. Maintain accurate documentation of equipment, systems, configurations, repairs, and upgrades. Work collaboratively with other technical and operational teams to resolve issues and support station operations. Participate in on-call and after-hours technical support as needed. What We're Looking For 2+ years of broadcast engineering or related technical experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, broadcast technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered. Experience working with Windows operating systems, servers, networking, and technical/broadcast equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to diagnose technical problems and determine effective solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with newsroom, production, and business teams. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call support. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where technical issues may require immediate attention. Preferred Experience Experience with RF transmitters and transmission systems. Knowledge of television production and broadcast workflows. Familiarity with IP-based broadcast technologies. Experience supporting live television or other mission-critical technical environments. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work around technical and electronic equipment. Ability to move between facilities or work locations as needed. Ability to work in environments where occasional after-hours or emergency technical response may be required.
