Fort Myers Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Master Control Operator to join our broadcast operations team. The Master Control Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling the on-air transmission of programming, commercials, news, alerts, and other content across multiple television stations and subchannels. Schedule & Work Environment This position operates in a 24/7 broadcast environment, so flexibility is essential. Operators must be available to work a variety of shifts, including: Evenings Overnight shifts Weekends Holidays Our stations deliver local news, syndicated programming, sports, network content, and other programming across multiple channels and digital platforms. The Master Control team plays a critical role in maintaining reliable, high-quality on-air operations. What You'll Do Monitor and control on-air signals for multiple television stations and subchannels. Operate broadcast automation and playout systems. Ensure programming, commercials, promos, graphics, and EAS alerts air accurately and on schedule. Switch live programming, breaking news, and other feeds as directed. Ingest and prepare programming and other content for broadcast. Monitor and maintain accurate FCC and station logs. Perform quality-control checks of audio, video, and closed captioning. Monitor satellite and IP-based feeds for signal quality and availability. Identify and troubleshoot technical issues and escalate problems to Engineering when necessary. Coordinate with News, Programming, Traffic, and Engineering departments. Execute network join/leave procedures and special event broadcasts. Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure uninterrupted and accurate broadcasts. Follow station procedures, FCC requirements, and technical standards. Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in Broadcast Technology, Communications, or a related field is preferred. 1+ year of master control or broadcast operations experience preferred. Experience working with broadcast automation systems; Florical experience is a plus. Working knowledge of FCC rules and broadcast compliance requirements. Strong computer and technical troubleshooting skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a time-sensitive environment. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during technical disruptions or breaking news situations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Flexibility to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Technical Skills Experience or familiarity with the following is preferred: Broadcast automation and playout systems Video servers Routers and switchers Satellite and IP-based feeds Audio/video signal monitoring and analysis Basic networking and IT troubleshooting Broadcast monitoring and control equipment Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while monitoring broadcast systems. Manual dexterity to operate control panels, keyboards, and other technical equipment. Ability to visually monitor multiple video streams and identify technical issues or signal irregularities. Ability to monitor audio feeds and recognize changes or abnormalities in audio quality. Occasionally lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to move throughout a technical operations environment and access equipment racks, consoles, and related systems. Ability to work varied schedules, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
