Job Description

Ancom Communications is looking for an experienced Radio Frequency and First-line Communications Technician at our Burnsville and Rochester locations. As a RF Technician you will install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain Motorola two-way radio communication systems that keep public safety agencies, schools and business connected and secure. This position offers diverse, hands-on field and bench work with cutting-edge technology in a wide variety of environments no two days are the same. Ideal candidates bring a background in RF systems, electrical, or communications technology, along with a passion for solving complex technical challenges. Responsibilities and Job Duties:
• Install, configure, and maintain enabled-devices including, base stations, repeaters, trunked radio systems, dispatch consoles, tone remotes, paging infrastructure, VoIP and antenna systems Conduct testing and measurements to assess performance of RF systems and troubleshoot issues Troubleshoot and repair mobile, portable, and fixed radio equipment in the
VHF, UHF, 700/800
MHz, and microwave bands Optimize RF systems for maximum efficiency and coverage, adjusting parameters as needed Perform preventative maintenance accessing system deficiencies Serve a wide variety of markets including public safety, education, utilities, government, healthcare, hospitality, transportation, and agriculture industries Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards Radio Management programming platform for suite of Motorola radios and their respective system(s) Design, install and optimize Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) using iBwave platform
Skills:
3+ years' experience in RF systems, two-way radio, or related communications technology Strong understanding of RF theory, antenna systems, and networked communication platforms Working knowledge of FCC rules and regulations Proficiency with RF test equipment (service monitor?? And more?) Solid electrical and mechanical aptitude; comfortable using power tools and test equipment Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Professional communication and customer service mindset Strong written and
Verbal Communication Skills Requirements:
Employment is contingent upon succession completion of a background check, in compliance with applicable laws Valid driver's license and ability to meet Ancom motor vehicle standards Work Authorization Related Job Experience (2+ years) Willingness to travel locally to jobs
Physical Requirements:
Push/Pull/Lift up to 75 lbs Full mobility/use of hands, arms and shoulders Tolerate weather elements
Ladder Usage License/Certification:
Power Limited Technicians License (Preferred)
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm On call (weekly rotating weekly, roughly 4-5 times a year)
Compensation:
Starting Salary $26.50-$33.65/hour depending on qualifications
