This role works across video, audio, lighting, livestream, presentation, and other production systems to help create smooth and distraction-free worship experiences both in the room and online. The Production Tech Assistant will help prepare systems, operate equipment, support production volunteers, troubleshoot technical issues, and assist with occasional projects. Primary Responsibilities Arrive Sunday mornings to help prepare production systems for worship. Set up and adjust cameras, microphones, lighting, and production equipment. Set up, frame, white balance, and adjust Cannon PTZ/Cine cameras before services. Operate cameras, video switching, ProPresenter, audio, lighting, or other production positions as assigned. Monitor services for technical issues and help troubleshoot problems as they arise. Assist with transitions between services, including resetting and checking equipment. Support production volunteers and help them successfully operate their assigned positions. Help upload and organize Sunday service recordings and other media. Assist with occasional special events, recordings, video projects, equipment installations, and maintenance. Keep production spaces and equipment clean, organized, and ready for use. Communicate equipment problems or recurring technical issues to production leadership. Required Skills and Experience Professional, educational, or advanced production experience beyond volunteer-level AVL operation. Hands-on experience working in live audio, video, and lighting environments. Working knowledge of live production signal flow and how audio, video, lighting, presentation, and broadcast systems work together. Experience operating cameras in a live production environment. Experience with live video switching and multi-camera production. Working knowledge of live audio systems, microphones, routing, gain structure, and troubleshooting. Working knowledge of live-event lighting systems, console operation, DMX, fixture operation, and basic lighting programming: Familiarity with ONYX is a plus. Familiarity with presentation and playback systems such as ProPresenter. Understanding of video routing, converters, SDI, HDMI, networking, and other common AVL infrastructure. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems during live events. Strong eye for camera framing, exposure, focus, lighting, and overall production quality. Ability to stay calm, think quickly, and communicate clearly during live services. Ability to move between different AVL disciplines based on the needs of a service or event. Time Commitment Ability to stay calm and focused during live services. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction quickly. Reliable Sunday morning availability This Role Requires More than a general interest in production. More than a volunteer-level production experience. A proven ability to operate video systems in a live environment. Confidence making technical and visual adjustments in real time. A strong understanding of video quality, camera settings, signal flow, and broadcast flow. Preferred Experience Church production experience. Live event or broadcast experience. Experience with multiple-camera setups. Experience editing church, event, or social media video content. Comfort helping with quick transitions between services. Schedule This role is primarily Sunday mornings from 6:00 AM-1:00 PM, with occasional additional hours for special services, events, or video projects as needed. Must be able to participate in monthly remote or in-person meetings for 1 hour as scheduled.
