Job Description
The Director of Creative Services is responsible for supporting Marketing Department efforts by leading the creative development and visual execution of the Lottery's advertising, branding, and promotional initiatives. This position oversees the artistic direction of all visual communications, ensuring that every project reflects the Lottery's brand standards while supporting sales, retailer engagement, and public awareness. The Director of Creative Services collaborates closely with the Director of Products, Director of Communications, Broadcast Producer, other Marketing support staff, the media placement agency, printers, and other departments to develop compelling campaigns that promote the Louisiana Lottery in a highly regulated environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides leadership, creative vision and design direction on all Lottery marketing campaigns. Develop concepts and creative strategies for scratch-off games. Assist Product Development in developing draw games and promotions. Assist Communications with social media and public awareness campaigns. Direct the design, production and placement of all print, digital outdoor, and point-of-sale materials. Assist the Video Editor with direction of design and placement of videos for corporate use, TV commercials, social media and Play Advertising Display ads (PAD). Ensure consistent application of Lottery brand standards across all communication channels. Manage multiple creative projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines. Supervise and mentor graphic designers, production artists, and other creative staff. Review and approve artwork for quality, accuracy, brand compliance, and production readiness. Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Retailer Services, Security, Legal, and Executive Leadership to translate marketing objectives into effective creative solutions. Coordinate with advertising agencies, photographers, illustrators, printers, promotional vendors, and other outside partners. Develop creative briefs, production schedules, and project timelines, (POS Schedule). Evaluate new design trends, emerging technologies, and production methods to improve efficiency and creativity. Oversee photography direction, illustration, typography, color selection, and overall visual presentation. Ensure all artwork and bids comply with Lottery regulations, state procurement guidelines, licensing requirements, and responsible gaming standards. Participate in campaign planning, brainstorming sessions, and strategic marketing meetings. Manage digital asset libraries and maintain organized creative archives. Review vendor proofs, press checks, and production samples to ensure quality standards are achieved. Assist with annual budgeting for creative services, printing, and production as requested. Experience Required Extensive portfolio demonstrating branding, advertising, print, digital, and campaign development. 5 year(s): Progressively responsible professional graphic design experience. 3 year(s): Leading creative projects or supervising creative staff. Preferred Familiarity with web design, motion graphics, photography direction, and video production. Knowledge of state procurement procedures and contract management. Experience working with advertising agencies and commercial printers. Experience working in gaming, lottery, advertising, tourism, consumer products, or government marketing. Education Required Bachelors or better in Graphic Design or related field
