Job Description

The Director of Creative Marketing provides strategic and hands-on leadership for Crown College's creative marketing, organic social media, multimedia storytelling, and visual brand execution. Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment & Marketing, the Director develops and implements creative strategies that advance enrollment, strengthen institutional reputation, cultivate community engagement, and support donor and constituent relationships. The Director leads the College's social media presence; directs the development of video, photography, design, and multimedia content; manages creative workflow; and ensures that public-facing content reflects Crown's identity as a boldly Christian institution. The position supervises the Content Producer and assigned student workers and collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external partners. Equipment Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, a personal computer and required software, cameras and multimedia-production equipment, printers, scanners, copy machines, and other equipment required by the position. CREATIVE MARKETING AND BRAND EXECUTION
Develop and execute an integrated creative marketing strategy aligned with Crown College's mission, brand promise, strategic priorities, enrollment goals, and advancement objectives. Translate institutional and enrollment priorities into compelling creative concepts, campaigns, and audience-centered content. Provide creative direction for digital, social, print, video, photography, and multimedia projects. Ensure consistent application of Crown's brand standards, visual identity, tone, and Christian mission across channels and deliverables. Partner with the Director of Communications to align institutional messaging with creative execution and channel strategy. Advise the Vice President of Enrollment & Marketing on creative opportunities, emerging trends, audience engagement, and resource needs. 30%
SOCIAL MEDIA
Develop and execute a comprehensive organic social media strategy promoting Crown's brand, academic programs, student experience, events, outcomes, and strategic initiatives. Create, curate, edit, schedule, and publish engaging text, image, video, and multimedia content across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and emerging platforms. Create, curate, and schedule content for the President's social media channels in coordination with appropriate institutional leaders. Develop and maintain a coordinated social media calendar that balances enrollment, institutional, advancement, athletics, academic, and community priorities. Provide active community management by monitoring and responding to comments, messages, mentions, and inquiries in a timely, professional, and mission-consistent manner. Monitor platform data, audience behavior, engagement, reach, traffic, and content performance using Sprout Social, native platform analytics, Google Analytics, and related tools; use findings to improve strategy and execution. Collaborate with the Social Media Leadership Committee and campus departments to maintain consistency, quality, coordination, and institutional standards. Establish procedures for account governance, access, moderation, archiving, escalation, and response to sensitive or emerging issues. Stay current on platform changes, algorithms, accessibility expectations, best practices, and emerging content formats. Train and equip student workers, interns, alumni, ambassadors, and campus contributors who participate in social media initiatives. 20%
MULTIMEDIA STORYTELLING AND CONTENT PRODUCTION
Lead the planning and production of video, photography, short-form content, interviews, campaign assets, and institutional storytelling. Supervise the Content Producer and provide clear briefs, priorities, timelines, feedback, and creative direction. Identify stories and visual opportunities that communicate Crown's mission, student experience, academic quality, community, and impact. Ensure multimedia content is technically strong, accessible, appropriately licensed, and prepared for effective use across platforms. Maintain an organized, searchable, and appropriately governed library of creative assets, releases, project files, and final deliverables. Balance event coverage with strategic enrollment, institutional storytelling, and campaign-production priorities. 15%
CREATIVE SERVICES, CAMPAIGNS, AND CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
Manage creative intake, project briefs, prioritization, production calendars, review cycles, approvals, and delivery across multiple concurrent projects. Collaborate with Enrollment and Communications leaders to develop audience-focused campaigns, organic channel support, and recruitment materials. Execute print requests in collaboration with the content producer. Provide approved creative assets and content support to external marketing partners and collaborate to ensure timely, emotive, brand-aligned campaign execution. Partner with the Data team to review content and channel performance, support tracking requirements, and apply data-informed insights to creative testing and optimization. Coordinate with the President's Office, Advancement, Athletics, Academics, Student Development, Operations and other areas to meet institutional priorities. Manage relationships with approved photographers, videographers, freelancers, vendors, and production partners as assigned. Ensure projects meet accessibility, copyright, licensing, privacy, release, and institutional policy requirements. 10%
PERSONNEL LEADERSHIP, ADMINISTRATION, AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Recruit, onboard, coach, supervise, and evaluate the Content Producer and assigned student workers. Establish team goals, work plans, production standards, service expectations, and professional-development priorities. Monitor relevant budgets, subscriptions, equipment, vendors, and production expenses within delegated authority. Develop and report appropriate creative and social media performance measures to the Vice President of Enrollment & Marketing. Maintain documentation, templates, calendars, account access, workflows, and continuity plans for critical creative-marketing functions. Participate in departmental and institutional meetings, planning, events, and professional development. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong desire to advance Christ-centered higher education through creative excellence and servant leadership. Advanced understanding of social media platforms, audience behavior, algorithms, content formats, community management, and channel best practices. Demonstrated ability to develop creative strategy and translate institutional goals into compelling, audience-centered content. Excellent written, visual, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with social media management and analytics tools such as Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, YouTube Studio, Google Analytics, and comparable platforms. Proficiency with content-creation and creative-production tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, video-editing software, photography tools, and related technologies. Strong understanding of photography, videography, editing, multimedia production, and digital asset management. Ability to interpret analytics, identify actionable insights, and optimize content based on audience and performance data. Strong creative judgment and the ability to protect and consistently apply institutional brand standards. Ability to supervise, coach, motivate, and develop professional employees and student workers. Excellent project-management, prioritization, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage sensitive issues, and collaborate effectively across departments. Understanding of accessibility, copyright, licensing, permissions, privacy, and ethical content practices. Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, visual communications, public relations, or a related field. Five years of progressively responsible experience in creative marketing, social media, content strategy, digital communications, multimedia production, or a related area. Demonstrated experience developing and executing social media strategy, creating content, managing online communities, and using analytics to guide decisions. Demonstrated experience directing or producing video, photography, graphic, and multimedia content. Experience managing complex projects, production calendars, and cross-functional stakeholders. Supervisory experience or demonstrated experience leading employees, interns, students, vendors, or project teams. A portfolio demonstrating strong creative judgment and effective content across multiple platforms. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, business, higher education, or a related field. Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in creative marketing or communications. Experience in higher education, nonprofit, ministry, or faith-based organizations. Experience leading creative services or content-production function. Experience supporting enrollment marketing, advancement, executive social media, or institutional reputation initiatives. Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Sprout Social, Google Analytics, content-management systems, and digital asset-management tools. Crown College alumnus or familiarity with Crown College and The Christian and Missionary Alliance.
