Position Description Senior Designers are responsible for leading the concept, design and assisting in the strategy and production of a diverse mix of creative outputs including brand identity, sub-brand logo solutions, promotional / sales materials (print & digital), web content, social media and digital marketing campaign tactics. The Senior Designer will have a concrete understanding of how brands operate and effectively communicate with their audience in a modern landscape across diverse media formats. They will have the ability to execute expertly in an environment that requires flexibility and a diverse skillset to tackle client solutions that take many forms, with an emphasis on setting a standard for creative innovation and excellence of execution. The Senior Designer acts as a design leader and works collaboratively with the Strategy team to ensure that creative solutions result in progressive, sophisticated and appropriate design experiences. Overview of Role Translate strategic objectives into compelling visual solutions that align with brand identity Contribute informed creative input and decision-making based on client priorities and a continual drive to success and differentiation in-market. Manage many design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and ensuring high quality Collaborate with marketing, product, and creative teams to develop integrated campaigns Communicate design concepts clearly to internal stakeholders and external clients Stay current with design trends, tools, best practices to continuously elevate creative output Act as a brand expert, monitoring ongoing brand health and quality in-market Support creative leadership in shaping overall visual direction and team culture Primary Responsibilities Successfully lead and execute design engagements at a high conceptual and executional level across a variety of client scales and media types with minimal guidance Work with Creative Director to proactively resource and plan for project success Rapidly create a wide breadth of rough creative concepts early in the process & adapt concepts and designs as needed without sacrificing creative integrity Understand the role of copy and how to effectively create pieces of communication that merge messaging and design to a sum greater than its parts. Experience in and confident desire to effectively collaborate with a writer to conceptualize fully formed pieces of creative communication Clearly articulate and constructively defend creative rationale during design critiques and presentations Active involvement/clear communication of thoughts/ideas in client presentations Work to establish mutual trust and respect with clients Ground creative decisions and build rationale in line with strategic directions established by the Strategy and Client Leadership teams Collaborate with Creative Director and Strategy team during the design process and communicate clearly with cross-discipline teammates throughout project life cycle Manage team expectations in a timely fashion when status of deliverables or timing changes Ability to direct vendors/partners, including photography, illustration, web development, 3D artists, construction, fabrication, etc.
Utilize internal processes effectively:
time management, file naming conventions, server structure and organization, timesheets, etc. Help lead and mentor design team and co-op program with various Universities/programs, including candidate interview/final selection processes (w/HR) Remain up-to-date on latest design trends, software, processes Understand the appropriate role and application of AI platforms in concept development and utilize these platforms within established compliance guidelinesAdditional Agency Responsibilities:
Working in close conjunction with Client Managers & Lead Strategist to provide ongoing oversight for all assigned and prospective projects. New project ideation, scoping, budgeting, resource planning & scheduling To be recognized as a design leader for your assigned client, you must actively engage with key client contacts in order to continually foster strong professional relationships. Is keenly aware of current Hyperquake stakeholders' networking efforts so you are in complete alignment on new project opportunities and the level of commitment being made on a project-by-project basis. Experience You will Bring Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field 5-8 years of professional design experience, preferably in an agency, studio, product team, in-house, or other fast-paced creative environment A strong portfolio showcasing a range of work across branding, digital, print, social and campaign art direction/design Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); effective knowledge of Figma and/or Adobe XD, experience using common AI platforms (Midjourney, Dall-E, ChatGPT) in appropriate capacities for rapid concept development and refinement Strong understanding of typography, layout, color theory, brand systems, responsive design, web standards and social media design best practices. Experience with preparing files for both print and digital production Familiarity with motion graphics, video editing tools (e.g., After Effects, Premiere Pro), 3D design, Webflow and Wordpress development is a bonus Proven ability to lead projects, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality work independently or as part of a team Excellent communication and presentation skills—able to clearly articulate creative concepts to both internal teams and stakeholders Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and mentor junior designers Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Strong work ethic, leadership, collaboration, problem solving and decision making skills. Excellent planning, time management, and follow-through skills. Willingness to understand our clients, their industries, our competition and our markets.
