Full Job Description Job Title:
Creative Director Job Description We are seeking a Creative Director to lead our medical content track. This role is at the crossroads of creative artistry and scientific precision, requiring you to set the creative standard for medical and disease-state content. You will guide a multidisciplinary team of writers and designers, ensuring that our output is both engaging and compliant. This position is unique as it operates within a regulated environment where creative ambition must harmonize with MLR review, fair balance, and evidence-based claims. Responsibilities Own creative direction for medical and scientific content across various formats including patient and HCP materials, disease-state education, congress assets, digital and social content, and internal scientific communications. Translate complex clinical data and scientific narratives into clear, accurate, and compelling creative work. Collaborate with medical affairs, brand marketing, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure alignment of creative concepts with medical strategy and label requirements. Lead and mentor medical writers, designers, and production staff, conduct creative reviews, and elevate craft standards across the studio. Present creative work and rationale to sr stakeholders, defending creative decisions with both aesthetic and scientific reasoning. Anticipate MLR feedback and integrate review-readiness into the creative process. Contribute to studio playbooks, including creative principles, medical content standards, and reference frameworks for future projects. Essential Skills 10+ years in creative leadership with at least 5 years directing medical, pharmaceutical, or healthcare content within an in-house med-comms agency or healthcare advertising agency. Demonstrated portfolio of medical or scientific creative work, including HCP campaigns, patient education storytelling, and congress materials. Working fluency in the regulatory landscape for promotional and non-promotional medical content, includingFDA/OPDP
expectations, fair balance, ISI placement, and understanding on-label vs. off-label boundaries. Experience leading work through MLR or equivalent medical-legal-regulatory review and collaborating effectively with reviewers. Strong conceptual and visual judgment across print, digital, video, and presentation formats. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with comfort in presenting to and negotiating with sr medical and commercial leaders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in oncology or biologics. Familiarity with PromoMats or similar content management and review systems. Experience in establishing or scaling an in-house studio or content team. Familiarity with AMA style, and comfort in reading clinical publications and prescribing information. Work Environment This position follows a hybrid working model, requiring office presence on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The workweek runs from Monday through Friday, with working hours from 8 AM to 4 PM. The interview process includes two rounds, each lasting 45 minutes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $64.00/hr.
