Job Description
Project:
Brand Development +
Launch Creative Direction Engagement:
Freelance / Contract Initial term: Approximately 6-8 weeks
Industry:
Beauty / Hair /
Luxury Services Location:
Norcross, GA; hybrid/remote possible, with some in-person availability preferred About Tresse Tresse is a new elevated braid bar created to modernize the traditional braiding experience. Our goal is not simply to provide beautiful braids. Tresse is being built around a more polished, reliable and thoughtfully designed client experience—combining exceptional braiding with efficiency, comfort, professionalism and hospitality. We want Tresse to feel like a beauty brand that happens to specialize in braiding , rather than simply another braid salon. We are seeking a freelance Creative Director to help translate that vision into a distinctive and recognizable brand. The Assignment The Creative Director will work directly with the founder to establish the creative world of Tresse and develop the visual and experiential direction for its launch. The goal is not to completely reinvent the existing concept . Tresse already has an initial identity and direction. We are looking for someone who can refine it, challenge it where appropriate, and develop it into a sophisticated and cohesive brand system. The Creative Director should help answer: What should someone see, feel and immediately understand when they encounter Tresse? Scope & Deliverables The project will focus on six areas: 1. Brand Creative Direction Develop the overarching creative concept and visual world for Tresse, including mood, visual references, typography direction, color application, graphic treatments and imagery. 2. Brand Identity Refinement Evaluate the existing Tresse logo, black-and-gold direction and other brand elements. Recommend refinements where necessary while developing a more ownable visual identity. 3. Brand Voice & Messaging Establish guidelines for how Tresse communicates across social media, website/booking, advertising, client communications and physical signage. This should include how we communicate the idea of elevated braiding without relying on generic luxury language. 4. Client Experience Creative Direction Help translate the brand into the physical experience—including salon environment, signage, client amenities, refreshments, presentation, uniforms/smocks, packaging and other touchpoints. 5. Launch Campaign + Content Direction Develop the creative concept for Tresse's launch, including social media direction, launch storytelling, campaign concepts and initial content pillars. 6. Launch Photoshoot Direction Develop the concept and shot list and help direct the visual execution of Tresse's launch photography/video, including models, hairstyles, wardrobe, styling, composition and overall visual treatment. At the conclusion of the project, the Creative Director should provide a comprehensive Tresse Creative/Brand Playbook documenting the final direction so future photographers, designers, social-media managers and other creatives can execute the brand consistently. It should include things such as approved visual direction, typography/color usage, imagery direction, photography guidelines, brand voice, social/content direction, graphic treatments, examples of correct/incorrect execution and launch creative direction. Who We're Looking For We are especially interested in creative directors with experience in beauty, fashion, luxury consumer brands, hospitality, wellness or culturally relevant lifestyle brands . Prior salon experience is not required. We are looking for someone with strong taste, but more importantly, someone who understands brand strategy and can explain the reasoning behind creative decisions . The ideal candidate is comfortable challenging ideas when there is an opportunity to make the brand more distinctive. Please do not apply with only logo/graphic-design examples. We would like to see complete brand or campaign work demonstrating concept development, creative direction and execution.
