Position Summary:
The Assistant Director, Creative Services supports the visual storytelling and digital content strategy for Rice Athletics, with primary responsibility for women's basketball and additional involvement with select Olympic sports. This role focuses on creating high-quality video, photo, and digital content that supports recruiting, fan engagement, and brand visibility across multiple platforms. Working in collaboration with Athletics staff and the Creative Services team, this position contributes to content planning, social media execution, and creative production throughout the year. This is a full-time, on-campus role requiring flexibility with scheduling and travel during competitive seasons. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change. •Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in communications, digital media, graphic design, marketing, public relations, or a related field 1+ years of relevant professional experience
Skills:
Strong experience in video and photo production for digital platforms Experience managing social media platforms or digital content calendars Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required Must be able to travel with women's basketball and for limited postseason events Must thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferences:
Working knowledge of graphic design and visual layout Prior experience supervising professional staff, student employees, or entry-level creatives Familiarity with collegiate athletics or sports production environments Experience with motion graphics and advanced post-production workflows is a plus
Essential Functions:
Serve as the primary creative lead for women's basketball, including video, photo, and digital content Manage and execute women's basketball social media content, including planning, scheduling, and real-time coverage Support content creation and social media management for assigned Olympic sports Create highlights, features, promotional edits, and recruiting-related content throughout the year Travel fully with women's basketball; limited postseason travel with Olympic sports Supervise and support a Creative Digital Media Specialist Collaborate with other departments within Athletics to meet day-to-day content needs Support department-wide initiatives, photoshoots, and events Rice University HR |
