WORSHIP & COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Worship + Communications — approximately 16 hours/week OR Worship Only — approximately 8 hours/week OR Communications Only — approximately 8 hours/week

CityLights Church is a growing, Bible-centered church in University Place, Washington. We're passionate about reaching people, building genuine community, and helping people discover and grow in Jesus Christ. We're looking for gifted, energetic, ministry-minded people to strengthen two important areas of our church: worship and communications. This can be one combined position or two separate part-time roles, depending on the right candidate(s).

WORSHIP LEADERSHIP

Plan and lead engaging, Christ-centered worship on Sundays and for occasional special services. Collaborate with the Lead Pastor on services, themes, and music. Lead vocally while playing guitar or keyboard. Organize rehearsals and recruit, schedule, encourage, and develop musicians and worship-team members. Create a warm, authentic worship environment that welcomes both longtime Christians and people exploring faith. Work alongside sound, video, livestream, and presentation volunteers while developing additional musicians and worship leaders.

COMMUNICATIONS

Strengthen CityLights' online presence through social media, website, email, SEO, and other effective platforms. Create and coordinate posts, graphics, photos, videos, emails, and promotional content. Promote worship services, sermon series, children's activities, outreach events, and other ministries. Tell the stories of what God is doing at CityLights with a clear and consistent voice and look. Help us connect more effectively with people throughout University Place and the greater Tacoma area. We don't expect one person to be an expert at everything. We're looking for creativity, initiative, strong people skills, and a desire to keep learning and improving.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate: Has a genuine and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Supports CityLights Church's Statement of Faith, mission, and ministry philosophy. Demonstrates Christian character, integrity, maturity, and dependability. Works well with staff, volunteers, church members, and guests. Is creative, organized, collaborative, teachable, and self-motivated. Enjoys building teams and helping others develop their gifts.

For the worship role:

You should be a capable vocalist and musician who can lead from guitar or keyboard and have experience with contemporary Christian worship.

For the communications role:

You should be comfortable with social media and digital communication. Experience with photography, video, graphic design, Canva, livestreaming, ProPresenter, or similar tools is a plus. We value excellence, but we never forget that ministry is about people, not performance.

HOURS & COMPENSATION

$35 per hour The combined Worship & Communications position is approximately 16 hours per week . Candidates interested in Worship Only or Communications Only may be considered for approximately 8 hours per week . Hours include Sunday mornings and rehearsals for the worship role, with flexible weekday hours for planning, communications, and creative work.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY

CityLights is also seeking part-time leadership for our Children's Ministry. Because of that, we're especially open to talking with a ministry couple interested in serving together—perhaps one in worship/communications and the other in children's ministry. These are separate positions, and applicants absolutely do not need to be a couple.
