JOB SUMMARY
The Luau Operations Team Member is responsible for assisting with the preparation, setup, operation, guest services, and cleanup of Luau events. This is a hands-on, physically active position that requires teamwork, attention to detail, a positive attitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced event environment, attention to detail, and excellent customer service. The Luau Operations Team Member helps ensure that the luau is properly prepared; guests are welcomed and seated, and all operational areas remain clean, organized, and ready for service.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBIITIES, & EXPECTATIONS
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Assist with the setup and breakdown of the luau grounds. Lift, carry, and move items weighing approximately 50-75 lbs. Set up, move, arrange, and break down tables and chairs. Clean, wipe, and maintain table and chairs before, during, and after the luau. Set up and organize the buffet line and buffet service areas. Set up stanchions, ropes, and guest entry areas. Assist with setting up and organizing parking area. Greet and check-in guests as they arrive. Assist guests with directions and provide friendly customer service. Seat guests and help maintain an organized seating process. Clean and maintain the luau grounds before, during, and after the event. Wipe, clean, and organize food service trays and equipment as needed. Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized throughout the event. Assist other departments and team members when needed. Help with end of night breakdown and ensure equipment and supplies are properly stored.
KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to lift and carry 50-75 lbs. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull for extended periods. Must be comfortable working in an outdoor environment. Must be dependable, punctual, and ready to work as part of a team. Must be able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently in a timely manner. Must maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with guests. Must be willing to perform physical setup, and cleaning, and breakdown duties. Must be able to work in a fast-paced event environment. Must have strong teamwork and communication skills.
WORK ENVIORNMENT
The Guest Experience Specialist works on-site in Ko Olina, Oahu, supporting a hospitality-driven luau experience through a primarily office-based environment that operates seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and the role requires schedule flexibility within these hours to meet guest demand. Most guest interactions occur through email, phone, and online reservation systems, with a strong focus on guiding guests through the booking process, answering questions, and delivering warm culturally respectful service. The pace varies with seasonal volume, requiring accuracy, clear communication, and a calm, guest-first approach. While the role is largely administrative, the specialist may occasionally assist on-site during peak periods or special events, collaborating with front-of-house teams to ensure a seamless and memorable luau experience. The employee must be able to: Address concerns and questions with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency. Take ownership of guest issues and ensure appropriate follow-through. Maintain a calm, solution-oriented approach in all interactions. Ensure communication reflects company standards and cultural respect. Adhere to all standard operating procedures related to reservations, guest communication, and data handling. Maintain compliance with payment processing, privacy standards, and company policies. Support overall team efficiency, accuracy, and service standards.
