Job Description

The County of Arenac is seeking a multi-talented and dynamic individual to serve as the Caretaker of the Event Center and Fairgrounds. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded individual capable of balancing administrative and physical tasks. The candidate will be able to coordinate reservation scheduling and planning for the new Arenac County Event Center and Fairgrounds, answer questions about the facilities and amenities offered, and maintain the grounds to the highest standard of care. The ideal candidate cares about the services provided to our community and goes above and beyond with the care and attention to detail they bring to this position. This role is a public-facing position and is the primary point-of-contact for those seeking to utilize our recreation facilities. The ideal candidate sets a high standard of professionalism, character, and demeanor when interacting with the public, coworkers, and the Board of Commissioners. Skills and Experience:
Proficiency with computers and software, ability to adapt to new systems quickly Experience operating light machinery and equipment such as but not limited to; tractors, lawnmowers, plow trucks, weed trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, floor scrubbers, scissor lifts, etc. Supervisory experience Ability to efficiently coordinate efforts with other departments/employees/contractors/renters Event scheduling and attraction Availability on weekends (on call) Prepare reports for the County Board of Commissioners Driver's license, experience with trailers, loading and hauling equipment, snowplowing, operating lawn machinery, light carpentry. Self-motivated and self-directed Excellent organizational skills Ability to work in varied environments, temperatures, and weather conditions Able to lift 50 pounds Expected to work at least 40 hours per week, expect some weeks to average 60 hours and some weeks to average lower than 40.
Starting Salary:
$60,000 Weekends On call
