Elvis Presley Enterprises Become a part of the exciting growth at Graceland! Since opening to the public in 1982, Elvis Presley's Graceland has hosted over 20 million visitors from every state in the union and nearly every country of the world. Graceland welcomes over 500,000 visitors each year, is one of the five most visited home tours in the United States, and is the most famous home in America after The White House. In 1991, Graceland was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2006, it was designated a National Historic Landmark. Graceland visitors come from all walks of life, all ages, all musical tastes, all income levels, all educational backgrounds, and all parts of the world. Our employees are ambassadors to Memphis and work hard to ensure all of our guests are treated with the same southern hospitality that Elvis Presley was known for. This is a part time position located in the Graceland Stables with variable/flexible working hours to include weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings and overtime as required. This is an internal/external recruitment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Stable Supervisor, set up and dismantle guest areas; meet and greet guests; conduct stable tours; answer questions about the horses; maintain the cleanliness of the tour path and exhibit area; halter and lead a horse when necessary; assist the stable staff with daily chores, including watering horses, placing hay in the stalls, touching up, grooming of the horses, and refreshing the bedding in the stalls.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Must be able to follow policy and procedures; ensure the tasks assigned are complete; ability to cope with heavy workload; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deal successfully with a wide range of people; ability to work under pressure of deadlines and competing needs; skill in the use of tools and equipment necessary for the position; working knowledge of horses and stables.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift 50 lbs; ability to stoop and walk constantly, along with standing for long periods of time; ability to speak clearly and distinctively.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Uniform is required; no smoking or eating in the work area; must be able to carry and use a hand held radio when assigned.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work flexible hours, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required; ability to work evenings with special events; ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
