A strong interest in emerging drone, LiDAR, photogrammetry, and reality capture technologies is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a commercial UAS/drone pilot for aerial surveying, mapping, inspection, and reality capture projects. Plan and execute UAS missions using DJI and other professional drone platforms. Operate drones equipped with LiDAR, photogrammetry, RGB, thermal, and other specialized sensors. Perform aerial topographic surveys, corridor mapping, stockpile calculations, construction surveys, as-built documentation, and site mapping. Establish and verify survey control using
GNSS/RTK
equipment. Integrate aerial data with conventional land surveying and terrestrial reality capture data. Process and/or oversee processing of LiDAR, photogrammetry, orthomosaic, point cloud, and 3D datasets. Perform survey-grade QA/QC of aerially collected data. Prepare and review survey maps, point clouds, surfaces, orthomosaics, 3D models, and other project deliverables. Assist with UAS mission planning, airspace research, flight authorizations, and FAA compliance. Maintain UAS equipment, batteries, payloads, and associated field equipment. Work closely with project managers, survey crews, engineers, clients, and other field personnel. Travel to project sites throughout Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region, with occasional out-of-state travel. Maintain accurate field notes, flight logs, project documentation, and equipment records. Assist in developing new aerial surveying and drone-based services and workflows.
Qualifications:
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. Significant professional experience operating commercial UAS platforms. Strong knowledge of land surveying principles and practices. Experience with
GNSS/RTK
surveying equipment and workflows. Experience with aerial photogrammetry, LiDAR, or other geospatial data collection technologies. Strong understanding of coordinate systems, datums, geoid models, and horizontal/vertical control. Ability to interpret survey plans, construction drawings, and project specifications. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites. Preferred Qualifications Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Louisiana or the ability to obtain Louisiana licensure through reciprocity - Preferred. Experience with DJI Enterprise platforms and RTK workflows. Experience with LiDAR systems such as Pheonix/RIEGL, DJI Zenmuse L2/L3, Zenmuse P1 or similar sensors. Experience with photogrammetry and orthomosaic production. Experience with software such as DJI Terra, Pix4D, Global Mapper, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, ReCap, or similar platforms. Experience with terrestrial laser scanning and/or mobile LiDAR. Experience integrating aerial LiDAR, photogrammetry, terrestrial scanning, and conventional survey data. Experience with construction surveying and as-built documentation. Experience with FAA waivers, airspace authorizations, BVLOS operations, or other advanced UAS operations. Experience developing UAS flight plans and automated mission parameters. Experience with large-format or specialty UAS platforms and payloads.
